My New Cat
I got a new cat yesterday. I feel happy that I got her. Her name is Princess Lela. She is 2 years old and black. We got her at the Kitsap Humane Society. It was easy to pick her out because she was the only cat there that does well with dogs and kids of all ages. It was not easy to see her because she was hiding in her kennel. The shelter worker had to pull her out so we could meet her. They asked us a bunch of questions and let us pet her. She hissed at the other cats and tried to get off mom's lap, but she purred when I pet her. The people at the Kitsap Humane Society were friendly.
Princess Lela cuddles with me and is always twitching her tail. She sleeps in a box in the corner under my bottom bunk that turns into a couch. When the bunk is folded into a couch, there's room for me to sit back there with her.
She has a pink collar with a bell on it so I can always hear where she is. We picked the collar, a fur mouse, and a leather mouse that rattles out at Paws & Fins pet shop. Her favorite toy is a piece of yarn attached to a stick that my sister Mira made.
We went home after we met her at the shelter to pick up our cat carrier and put a towel in it. Then we drove all the way back and got her. The lady at the desk told us that someone had just called and asked more about Princess Lela, but they hadn't come to adopt her yet. I was glad that we got there in time! My mom wanted to wait until Meow Monday, when we could get her for free. I think that if we'd waited, someone else would have come and adopted her before us. When we went to pick her up, the workers took her out of her cage and put her next to the cat carrier. She went straight in! The workers said "Oh! Look at that! She wants to go home with you! And you are very lucky to have this cat!"
She meowed all the way home. We stopped at Safeway to get cat litter and to go to Paws & Fins. Now she's living in our bedroom for a couple days. She's in there because we want her to get used to our house before she meets the dogs. I hope that she likes the dogs, and that they like her. Right now she's a bit stressed out, and she's throwing up all over the place. I hope that she feels better soon.
I've wanted a cat for a long time, and I'm really happy that I got one.

Month Less Plastic!
Today we started not to bring home any more plastic for a month. I do not know if I like it, because it just started this morning. I am excited about the no going to the grocery store part, because I don't like going to the grocery store. My mom says we're going to see how little we can shop at the grocery stores because we're trying to find non-corporate food sources. My friends Finn and Cleo and their mom Liesl are doing this too, and we'll all help each other with ideas.
We're going to Bay Hay & Feed instead of the grocery store because they've got some food that's local and not all wrapped in plastic, and we're going to the Farmers' Market more, and Bainbridge Barter. We are also going to Walt's, and instead of getting candy there that's wrapped in plastic, we'll get candy like Lemonheads because they're wrapped in cardboard instead. We can walk to Walt's and Pane d'Amore, the bakery that also sells cheese, bread, fish, salsa, sardines, drinks, chocolate, cheesesticks, eggs, milk, cream, wine (I'm pretty sure), and other groceries. We like them because they'll put our cheese and bread in cotton bags and metal containers that we bring in. Last night we picked up some cheese from someone's house. It is very fancy cheese and I love it. We get cheese from this man once a month; he helps people order cheese without going to the grocery store. Maybe he should have a website!
Some of the food that we get doesn't come from a store. It comes from our backyard. Mom is making more garden beds so that we can grow more food. We also use the Rock Farm. That is quite interesting. There are a lot of huckleberry plants around there, so we eat lots of huckleberries. We share a plot there with Liesl, Finn, and Cleo. The Rock Farm is run by mom's mom and dad, my grandparents. It also has a lot of trails around, so I bring my bike and ride around the trails and driveway with Finn. We stop constantly and eat huckleberries. There are two big hills, and I've gone down both of them. Finn's bike is faster than mine, but I don't care. I hope that I can grow some more food there.

My Tooth
I went to the dentist today. It was not fun. They took out one of my baby teeth because there was an abscess above it and a very bad cavity in it. It was not fun. The dentist did not tell me what he was going to do. I realized what he was going to do as he was doing it. It was not fun. When I got home, I started to cry, which was very embarrassing, if that makes sense. It kept bleeding at home. We went and dropped off my sister at school, and then we went to Safeway and got some food. We needed soft food because I couldn't chew that well. When I got home, for the rest of the day I watched movies and ate popsicles and oranges. That part was fun. It doesn't hurt any more. I have the tooth in a box that the dentist gave to me. The dentist also gave me a coin, and I put it in a machine and a small toy dog came out. That was fun, too.
Talking Dog
This is a very funny video about a dog named Mishka. My dog Trixie can say "Hello" but it sounds like "Haroh". I don't know which one I like best when it comes to talking dogs.

Another One Bites the Dust
I love this song. I just can't get this song out of my mind. It's been stuck in there since I first heard it yesterday.
